| Yes it Was Better ;) | 10:01am EST | Fornaught | We did get one fun match played on ff_dropdown, with /KBN/ winning over |D| (370 - 330).
But really it is FF winning with each game played. The Fortress Forever game has so much going for it now, with many improvements made and more to come. I do wish there were more players.
Given that, it is schedule time for this Thursdays matches, but I will talk with each clan leader tonight to see what sort of scheduling they want.
GG last week and thanks for playing. |

| Next Week Could Be Better... | 10:27am EST | Fornaught | Spring is in the air, and I can only guess that FF isn't. This left our clans with very few guys showing up to play this week. Worse here than in UGC, though they only completed 2 matches in their 5v5. The bottom line is we need a better commitment to play out matches from our FF community.
It's in your hands ;)
I will schedule our clans to play next week, we have a very nice custom map, ff_dropdown to be played on 5/1/08. I hope you will play it. We first played this map on Sept 30th, 2007 with some good fun ([FOoM] over -W- and -459 over fellas|).
Give it a shot, play FF as intended with large teams, on this solid map. It is up to you.

| Preseason Over. Regular Matches Begin | 10:03am EST | Fornaught | Thanks to all of the clans that played last night in our first matches since last fall, and our first since FF v2 has changed this game for the better.
Our entry into FF League gaming is done for the sole purpose of increasing the visibility of the FF game, and to help the FF community grow. We will do our best to add to the excitement and interest that competitive gaming brings to a game.
Some of our matches went smoothly last night, some did not. A few problems were understandable, but others were a surprise given that FF clans are largely made up of experienced TFC players, ones I would have thought needed less direction from league admins. In STA, our Admins try to find the fine line between respecting clan leaders enough not to be overly directive, and yet providing enough groundwork so the league will run smoothly. Clearly we need to add to our foundation.
For our Regular Matches next week we introduce the following rule changes:
1. Rosters lock Wednesday night, thru Thursday night.
2. Gameplay Rules:
- Defense Player Limit of 4 players. (Players are counted as a Defense player based on positioning and movement. Any player who is to be counted as an Offense Player must maintain progress towards an offensive goal at all times. For example, Turtling by O players on a dropped flag is prohibited at any location in the map)
- Offense vs Offense Crossfire Limit (Crossfire is limited when excessive vs enemy offense, and also limited by location, for example spawn spamming or offense base exit spamming.
3. Class Limits - STA will be discussing specific class limits with each clan leader.
The details of each of the above will be added to our Rules in the next two days, if any clan has a comment, please contact me in #sta-ff. A draft copy will be on our STA-FF forums.
I assume that most clans had some experience with our STA-TFC 9vs9 Gameplay Rules, and also know how I have dealt with gameplay issues over the last few years. These issue will be dealt with similarly here, but there will be differences, given the distinct nature of the FF game.
As always, STA-FF welcomes Clan Leader input and my door in always open to any FF clan leader or player. Your suggestions are welcomed.
Thank You

| Startup is soon... | 10:19am EST | Fornaught | We have 6 clans committed as of now, and signups are still open.
We will be making a decision on match night very soon, the clan captains we have talked with have a preference for Thursday night at 930pm. Please pm Dino or myself if you and your clan has a day preference. IF things remain as is, we are looking at a day change to Thursday, and exhibition play beginning in April.
If you have ever been banned in STA (from TFC or any div) please take advantage of this Ban Waiver, it will make your participation in STA-FF totally legit, and that is a very good thing for players in that position. Players who were banned in TFC must contact the Head Admin in any new game, prior to any playing - that is the policy we have.
#sta-ff if you have questions.
Personal Demos in FF:
Because of ongoing problems with personal demos in the FF game, the requirement to record is suspended.
We are looking forward to some great FF matches, in STA.

| Waiver of STA's current cheating policy | 10:24pm EST | Bucky33 | A long time ago, in a galaxy far far away, a collection of our leagues finest admins gathered and crafted STA’s cheating policy. A lot of time and effort from very intelligent and experienced men & women went into the design of the policy. They had a sharp eye on the future, however, what they didn’t have was a crystal ball.
Over the past 6 months STA has experienced a tremendous growth in both our league and admin group. While we’ve added several next-gen games to our list of available leagues, the past regime of Senior leadership has gone off into the sunset (or the nursing home) and now a new, highly motivated, and much more active unit has been installed. Our goal is not to undo what was done in the past, but to strengthen our leagues of today based on the hard work & experience of the past. #1 on that list is the formation of a new cheating policy. We seek one that the entire admin group can endorse, this time including representatives of each of our leagues fashioning the policy with each of our leagues (new and old) in mind. That way we can all 100% endorse the policy and the public can equally accept it. Stronger than All is stronger than ever, and we aim to continue our goal of providing the most fun, fair, and clean league gaming experience available.
Rome was not built in a day, nor will our new cheating policy. However, to acknowledge that current policy is inadequate or nonexistent is equal to having no policy at all. That is contradictory to the hard stance STA has always taken on cheating, and will continue to take into the future. One caveat of our current policy is our probationary system, which may or may not continue to be available in some fashion into the future. It is just one of the areas we intend to address with the formation of the new policy, but until that comes, we are making some immediate steps to adjust the current probation system.

| Review of FF at Planet Half-Life | 3:27pm EST | Fornaught | Often reviews of games on websites are cheezy one-offs posted to fill space more than inform. But this review is worth a read because it's author was not a diehard TFC'er like most of us.
Here is an excerpt:
"Fortress Forever is a video game... yes it’s technically a modification of the source engine, but I am calling it a video game. It rivals most retail games out there in terms of replayability, polish, and sheer entertainment. I've played $60 games that have moved me less than Fortress Forever."

| New Admin | 1:42pm EST | Fornaught | We have added DinosaurGas as a new STA-FF Admin, to help us get ready for a release version 2 of Fortress Forever, and a possible return of STA-FF.
Dino has some new ideas on the formation of our league and how we can aid a rebuilding community. Our hope is to provide a venue for league matches in a flexible format, as the FF community gets a footing.
More to come, as we wait for V.2
